What is the MAZDA Maintenance Schedule?

The right Mazda maintenance plan can keep your car running smoothly through New Haven, but some customers get confused by the many options on the service menu. How does Mazda3 maintenance schedule differ from the Mazda CX-5 maintenance schedule – and does it even matter? While every car needs basics like oil changes and tire rotations, each car has its own unique engineering that requires a slightly different process. MAZDA Maintenance Basics

Your Mazda CX-5 maintenance schedule will be very similar to your Mazda6 maintenance schedule, but there are a few things to keep in mind when scheduling your services. Your oil change monitor may be set to either fixed or flexible settings. When you flip to fixed mode, you’ll get alerts when you pass a mileage milestone. For example, your alert may pop on after 7,500 miles to remind you to schedule your oil change at a Mazda service center. When you are in flexible mode, your engine oil lifespan is calculated based on an algorithm based on driving conditions and mileage instead. MAZDA3 Maintenance Schedule

What is the Mazda3 maintenance schedule? You can plan on visiting during the following intervals:

• Every Year: Check disc brakes
• Every Two Years: Check the fuel line and hoses, brake lines, hoses, and connections, steering operation, front and rear suspension, driveshaft dust boost, and tighten bolts and nuts and chassis and body
• Every Three Years: Check the drive belts
• Every Four Years: Check the hoses and tubes for emission and exhaust system and heat shields
• On “Flexible” Mode: Replace oil when the alert is displayed – along with air filter and the cabin air filter (max interval is 12 months / 10,000 miles)
• On “Fixed” Mode: Replace the oil every 6 months, replace the air filter at 30 months, and the cabin air filter every two years
• Replace engine coolant at 120,000 miles / 10 years or 60,000 miles / 4 years depending on coolant type. After the first replacement, change at 60,000 miles / 5 years and 60,000 miles / 4 years, respectively.
• Replace spark plugs at 75,000 miles and rotate tires at 5,000 miles

MAZDA6 Maintenance Schedule

Follow the Mazda6 maintenance schedule for your yearly, bi-yearly, and three-year services and add the following:

• Every Two years: Replace cabin air filter
• Every Three Years: Replace air filter
• Every Four Years: Inspect hoses and tubes for emission
• Every Five Years: Inspect the exhaust system and heat shields
• Replace engine oil and filter when the indicator light is ON (max interval is 12 months / 7,500 miles)
• Replace engine coolant at 120,000 miles / 10 years, and at 60,000 miles / 5 years after the first replacement
• Replace the cabin air filter every two years
• Replace spark plugs with Skyactiv®-G 2.5 every 75,000 miles, and every 40,000 miles with Skyactiv®-G 2.5T
• Rotate tires every 7,500 miles
• Inspect emergency flat tire repair kit annually if installed
• If submerged in water, replace rear differential and transfer oil annually

MAZDA CX-5 Maintenance Schedule

While your Mazda CX-5 maintenance schedule will be very similar to the Mazda6 maintenance schedule, there is one key difference due to the unique CX-5 powertrain:

• Replace spark plugs with Skyactiv®-G 2.5T every 40,000 miles, and every 75,000 miles on anything other than Skyactiv®-G 2.5T
